For proper compensation of expansion in hot pipelines, sliding fastenings are indispensable. The supports must guide these length changes in different axes. In this process, either the pipe moves through the pipe clamp, or a part of the support moves along with the pipeline.
To accommodate the expansion associated with temperature changes, Sikla offers a wide range of sliding elements. These range from lighter components like the GLE J sliding element, which is suitable for single suspension, to the heavy-duty H3G - PL sliding set. Sliding rails made of fiber glass reinforced polyamide ensure low friction in this sliding set. A special nano-coating further halves the transverse force in the ULTRAglide variant.
Sliding properties for pipe expansion
Sliding can be impaired by a too large distance between the pipe axis and the fastening. To prevent jamming, the maximum permissible length of the lever arm must be considered. The basic rule is: the lower the friction, the longer the possible lever.
Use sufficiently stiff connection elements between the slider and the pipe clam. (No.3)
Sliding bearings positioned in series must always be aligned. Otherwise, the sliding bearings will interfere with each other’s function.
It is advisable to plan sliding bearings for horizontal pipelines as floor or ceiling installations.
When sliding sets are mounted on brackets, they must be braced laterally due to friction forces.
At room temperature, sliders should be installed proactively so that they move around their central position during operation and do not leave their working range. By considering the expected expansion, the pipe-enclosing component can be mounted accordingly offset. In operation, it is thus within the working range of the sliding element. If the sliding path is ignored, it can ultimately lead to the sliding carriage moving out of the guide. (No.4)
