Optimal Protection, Robust Mounting: Sikla Cold Clamps – Guaranteed Sikla Safety!

Written by Sikla International | May 28, 2024 9:00:00 AM

Do you know why cold clamps are so crucial?

Cold and chilled water pipes play a pivotal role in numerous applications, whether in buildings or other areas. They transport cold water or other coolants, such as oil, to cool machines and systems or to supply air-conditioned spaces.

A common problem is the formation of condensation. As cold water flows through the pipes, droplets can form on the surfaces, especially where they come into contact with the environment. Humidity plays a crucial role here, because the higher it is, the better the conditions for droplet formation.

Why is this problem so significant?

The formation of condensation on piping can have a serious impact on buildings and systems. This phenomenon can penetrate insulation materials, leading to corrosion of the pipes. Porous insulation materials such as soft foam, felt, and nonwovens are more susceptible to condensation penetration than solid insulation materials. In addition, condensation can cause slippery surfaces, leading to accidents and injuries. The ramifications of this problem range from structural damage to potential safety risks, highlighting the need for an effective solution. The Chilled Water Clamp LKS from Sikla has been specifically designed to solve these problems! With its PUR elements, it ensures that pipes are securely mounted and effectively prevents the formation of condensation, thereby minimizing costly damage and safety risks!

The Sikla Chilled Water Clamp LKS with its clamping range from 10 to 168 mm, supports a wide variety of pipe nominal sizes. The recently added sizes, LKS 13-10 for 10mm and LKS 13-12 or 12mm pipe diameters, further expand the possibilities in refrigeration and air conditioning technology. In addition to their use in large cooling system pipelines, these smaller sizes open up further possibilities that make them particularly versatile:

  • In building technology, cold clamps are used for cold-carrying piping in air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

  • Thanks to their precise fit and their ability to cover particularly small clamping ranges, the Chilled Water Clamp LKSs are ideal for use in plumbing applications in drinking water or sewage systems.

  • The Chilled Water Clamp LKSs also provide the necessary support in industrial applications, whether for the installation of pipes in hydraulic systems or in industrial cooling circuits.

Thanks to the various threaded connections available (M8/M10, M12/M16, or 1/2") and different nominal thicknesses of insulation (13, 19 or 32 mm) tthe Chilled Water Clamp LKS is perfectly suited to the requirements in the refrigeration sector. In environments with a low risk of condensation, a thinner insulation is sufficient, while in situations with high temperature differences or strict condensation prevention, a thicker insulation is necessary. The choice depends on the specific requirements of the application area, such as ambient temperature and humidity. In addition, the cold clamp meets the requirements of fire protection class B2 in accordance with DIN 4102. Its stability and corrosion resistance are ensured by the use of galvanized steel.
